What's new: DataLyzer FMEA new features |
|
At DataLyzer International we are always trying to innovate and make sure our customers have the best quality tools available to them. Lately we have been adding some important new features, designed to help you built efficient, effective and robust FMEAs. In this article we will highlight some of the key new features.
Characteristics Matrix
When making an FMEA one of the most important inputs is the characteristics matrix. In this matrix you enter a letter indicating whether the features have been created, inspected or affected.
In DataLyzer FMEA you can import the characteristics directly into the FMEA and add the information into the characteristics matrix, add them when editing the FMEA and you can open up the Matrix to view and edit. You can always view the matrix directly from the FMEA.
You can also use the characteristics matrix to filter and view your FMEA leaving out characteristics that (for example) are only inspected.

Requirement level adoptions
Our next release will make the use of reference FMEAs even more flexible, by allowing a new type of reference that will start from the Requirement level. Many companies are struggling on how to implement references, also known as standard FMEAs, master FMEAs, family and foundation FMEAs, generic FMEAs, etc. To make this a lot easier we are creating these new types of reference FMEAs. They can be used in regular FMEAs, where you can select which step to add the requirements to. You can use multiple instances of the same requirement as needed and of course if you update the reference, all specific documents using that reference will automatically be updated as well.
Archiving documents
If for any reason you need to make sure you are not using certain documents, there is a new feature to archive your existing FMEAs. Archiving the documents will make them invisible in the documents catalog, but can be made visible by selecting the show archived documents options. This can be useful if a certain product is not currently being made, but it might come back at some later stage, or to just hold onto older versions of documents that you want to keep, but don’t want them cluttering your catalog.

Must read: Optimizing Automated SPC Data Collection |
|

DataLyzer was the first company to offer an automated SPC software solution back in 1979. In the first decades, control chart data was mainly entered manually or via gages. In the last decade we are seeing a strong increase in real-time automated data collection to new available technology and a strong reduction in the cost of sensors and other equipment. This, however, raises a few new challenges – some technical and some organizational.
Technical Challenges:
• The number of special situations requiring bespoke solutions are growing quickly
• Even small customizations can require extensive testing meaning additional time and cost
Organizational Challenges:
• Informing the operator when a process is out of control
• Providing the condition in real-time
• Ensuring the operators follow the proper out-of-control procedures
In this whitepaper we will explain how DataLyzer offers a complete open structure to read data from any source and show some use cases about how DataLyzer can assist in implementing a full APQP or automated SPC solution efficiently.
